BIS Hallmarking Components

BIS hallmarking consists of five components:

  1. BIS Standard mark
  2. Purity grade (e.g., 916 for 22 karat gold)
  3. Mark of the hallmarking centre
  4. Year of hallmarking
  5. Jewellers identification mark
